3D Printing - 3D Printers – Additive Manufacturing

3D Printing has now come to the internetmachineshop.com; we are pleased to announce that we have 3D Printing capability in house.3D Printing, 3D Printers and Additive manufactuering is the future of manufacturing and we are on the ground floor.

Plastic 3D Printing- ABS or PLA Material, Any color is available

3D Printing, Better known as Additive Manufacturing is a process of manufacturing where material is added together rather than removed with CNC Milling or CNC Turning (referred to as Subtractive Manufacturing). This allows the creation of geometric features which previously would have been impossible with conventional machining.

3D Printers and 3D Printing is a CNC Machine just like CNC Mills with 3 Axis, X, Y, and Z axis but instead of having a spindle and motor that holds a cutting tool, 3D Printers have an Extruding head which feeds in the plastic material, heats it, thus melting it and deposits it onto a base. The extruder slowly deposits the plastic filament onto the part “building” it up step by step until the part is complete. This allows complex shapes to be manufactured where a normal milling cutting tool or lathe bit cannot reach or achieve.

The most common plastic 3D printing materials are known as ABS and PLA. PLA is Polyactic Acid or Polyactide, a thermoplastic Polyester derived from renewable and recycled materials including corn starch and sugar cane. PLA is very similar to PETE in regards to mechanical properties but has a much lower continuous temperature handling capability. PLA is also Biodegrade-able.

PLA is a “low-strength” material is primarily used for visual concept and non functioning prototypes and Art based models. PLA is widely available in Translucent, White, Black, Red, Yellow, Green, Blue and Orange colors.

ABS (Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene) is a petroleum based plastic widely used in manufacturing. Many products used today are manufactured with ABS with a process known as Injection Molding such examples are Lego’s, GI Joe’s , as well as most Plastic Automotive dashboards.

Internetmachineshop.com current build size is 10” x 10” x 6” but we expect to see a capability of 36”x 36” x 36” in the near future as demand for 3D printing products grow. If you have a product that exceeds this size capability we can custom build a machine to fit your requirement. Please send us your 3D Printing requirements today.

We accept any file format for 3D Printing but we prefer .STL files which are 3D Printer ready/
